I like it. Whatever it takes to reach people where they are. We ( the church) seem to think we can just sit back and do the same ol same ol and see people come to know Jesus. Meanwhile the world is sitting back with beer in hand and wondering why if their so important we aren't bothering to meet them where they are.
My pastor was meeting at a local pizza/bar joint for a while, once a week or once a month or something. Called it Spiritual Shots. inviting anyone to ask questions etc. From friends who were able to attend, felt that it at least reached folks, showed a less critical side, met people there as you said above.

I really don't see a problem. Seems like a good life group kind of thing to me.
